Police in Laikipia County have impounded 110 cattle after responding to complaints of illegal grazing on private farms in the Marura area of Laikipia West.
According to a police report, two farmers, Robbin Gitonga and Samuel Muraguri, reported that their farms had been invaded by herds of cattle, resulting in crop damage.
Officers from Rumuruti Police Station where they found the cattle grazing on the affected farms.
Police said about 20 morans mobilised in an attempt to stop officers from driving the animals to Rumuruti Police Station.
However, officers reinforced the operation and successfully escorted all 110 cattle to the station.
The situation was later brought under control and remains calm, with police continuing to monitor the area.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities seek to identify and arrest the owners of the impounded cattle.
