A 45 year old man has died after a fire razed his two roomed iron sheet house in Cheleni area, Ruai early today.
According to police, the incident was reported at about 3.40 a.m. by a resident, Isack Muturi, who alerted police after noticing his neighbour’s house engulfed in flames.
Police officers rushed to the scene and found the house completely on fire.
A Nairobi County Fire Brigade engine responded and managed to extinguish the blaze at around 4.00 a.m.
However, the occupant, identified as Duncan Muchiri was found burnt beyond recognition inside the house.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Ruai processed and photographed the scene before the body was moved to Nairobi City Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Police said the cause of the fire has not yet been established, and detectives from the DCI in Ruai have launched investigations into the incident.
