Police in Tigania West, Meru County, have launched investigations after a gang of four men posing as World cup fans robbed a local entertainment club of property valued at approximately Sh850,000.

According to police, the incident occurred at Raga Gardens on the night of July 15 and the early hours of July 16.

The club owner, Victor Mugambi Akwalu, reported that the four suspects posed as customers, bought drinks and remained at the premises after other patrons had left following the FIFA World Cup match between England and Argentina.

Police said that at around 2.00 a.m., the suspects asked the watchman to open the gate as if they were leaving.

However, they overpowered him, tied him up with a rope and broke into the club’s counter before stealing assorted alcoholic drinks and electronic equipment.

Officers from Tigania Police Station visited and processed the scene as investigations commenced.

Detectives are pursuing leads to trace and arrest the suspects.

Meanwhile, a bar attendant identified as Jackline Gatwiri has been arrested to assist detectives with investigations into the robbery.
