A police officer narrowly escaped injury after a massive tree was uprooted by strong winds and crashed onto two residential uni-huts at Bumala Police Station in Butula,Busia County.
The incident occurred at about 7.40pm on Wednesday during a heavy rainstorm accompanied by strong winds that swept through the station.
According to a police report, the falling tree completely damaged the two officers’ residential structures.
Sergeant Misoi, who was inside one of the affected houses at the time, escaped unharmed.
No injuries were reported.
The storm subsided at around 9.15pm, after which officers assessed the damage.
Police said trees located near the station’s residential lines and office blocks will be pruned to reduce the risk of similar incidents during future storms.
