Police have arrested two suspected receivers of stolen mobile phones and recovered 41 suspected stolen handsets during an operation in Nairobi’s Bus Station area.
The operation was carried out on Monday evening by officers from Kamukunji Police Station after receiving intelligence about a shop allegedly dealing in stolen mobile phones, located about one kilometre west of the station.
The suspects were identified as Kevin Muli Mutisya and Kiplagat Dickson.
They were arrested at the premises and escorted to Kamukunji Police Station for interrogation and processing.
During the raid, officers recovered 41 mobile phones of various brands, including Infinix, Samsung, Vivo, Nokia, Huawei, Redmi, ZTE, Oppo, G Phone, Honor, Smarta, Tecno, Itel and M-KOPA devices.
They also recovered three mobile phone motherboards.
Other items seized from the shop included a Samsung tablet, a Tecno tablet, an Apple iPad, an HP laptop, a Dell CPU and a laptop charger.
The recovered exhibits have been secured at Kamukunji Police Station as investigations continue to establish their ownership and whether they are linked to reported theft cases.
They are expected to be charged with handling suspected stolen goods once investigations are completed.
