A multi agency security team has arrested two suspected members of the notorious Vietnam alias Kapedo criminal gang following a raid at a house in Pasama area of Ochude Location, Teso South, Busia County.
The operation was conducted early today today after security officers received intelligence that members of the gang were gathered at a house belonging to Francis Okoside, alias Franco.
The team comprising DCI Teso South officers, Kenya Police Service and Administration Police Service officers raided the house, where about six men were reportedly found smoking bhang.
The suspects allegedly turned violent upon seeing the officers. Okoside is said to have been armed with a heavy metal rod, while others attacked the officers using wooden chairs and rungus.
Five police officers sustained various injuries during the confrontation. No. 96913 CPL Julius Bitok suffered a deep cut on the head and a contusion on the left wrist, while No. 242781 PC Kiriinya Titus sustained a bruise on the right leg.
No. 248094 PC Justus Muiruri injured the small finger of his left hand, No. 110821 PC Haron Bokea suffered a contusion on the left leg, while No. 98674 PC Daniel Kulei complained of chest pain.
