A 70 year old Church watchman was found murdered inside the compound of Mount Zion SDA Church of God in Ngoni area, Shikomari Sub-Location, Navakholo, Kakamega County.
Police said Johnson Mukuba was discovered dead at about 2:30am on Friday after he was reportedly heard screaming for help.
Officers from Makunga Police Station, who were on patrol, together with detectives from the DCI Navakholo, rushed to the scene and found Mukuba’s lifeless body lying within the church compound.
Police reported that the elderly man had a deep cut on his head and a broken right hand. H
is hands and legs had also been tied using cloth straps.
There were no signs of forced entry into the church compound, and police said nothing appeared to have been stolen.
The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was moved to the Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
The case has been taken up by DCI Navakholo detectives, who are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing and working to establish the motive and identify those responsible.
