Bishop Bonface Mang’eti: The pastor building a welfare network around families, education and dignity

By Our Reporter,Kitengela

Bishop Dr. Bonface Mang’eti has built a public profile around Christian ministry, education, community welfare and financial empowerment, with initiatives aimed at supporting families, students, pastors, artists and vulnerable members of society.

His recent role in preparations for the final send off of gospel musician and pastor Vincent Onyango Senior, popularly known for the hit song Kaburi Ni Tajiri, has placed him in the spotlight beyond his church ministry.

Mang’eti, the founder and leader of Glorious Gospel Centre and founder and president of Gloha SACCO, is also associated with Gloha Family Welfare, a community based initiative designed to help members cope with major financial and family needs.

On Thursday, September 18, 2026, he joined Vincent Senior’s family, musicians, clergy and other stakeholders in preparations for the funeral and took a leadership role as chairman of the burial committee.

Beyond the pulpit, Mang’eti has been involved in initiatives supporting education and vulnerable children.

Project Restore Hope identifies him as the founder of Glorious Gospel Centre and Glorious Group of Schools in Mukuru, Nairobi, and says he has supported orphaned and vulnerable children through education, food and other assistance.

His work has also extended to savings and financial empowerment.

Gloha SACCO traces its origins to 2017, when members working at Glorious Church established the savings and credit society.

Membership was later expanded beyond the original common bond, with the SACCO focusing on savings mobilisation, access to credit and productive investment.

Gloha Family Welfare grew from the same community based philosophy.

The programme operates through member contributions, creating a welfare fund from which eligible members can receive assistance according to their selected packages and applicable terms.

The organisation states that it is a member funded community welfare scheme and not an insurance underwriter regulated by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA).

Members contribute towards selected welfare packages and qualify for benefits after the stipulated waiting periods.

Education is among the programme’s most prominent areas of support.

Gloha says it has sponsored more than 700 college and university students across Kenya, assisting with expenses including tuition and accommodation.

Enquiries by Daily News Kenya-International established that by August this year, more than 700 students had benefited from the initiative.

The welfare programme also offers bereavement assistance.

Its published packages include burial support of up to Sh1 million, alongside services such as a hearse, tent, casket, seats, water, security, convoy and public address equipment, depending on the package selected.

Membership is open to adults who meet the programme’s registration requirements.

According to the current terms, applicants must be at least 18 years old, provide accurate identification and contact details, register and pay the applicable one time registration fee before their accounts are activated.

Gloha Family Welfare currently advertises membership from as little as Sh300 per month, although contributions vary depending on the package selected.

Its listed contact location is Kitengela, Kajiado, with branches in Kitengela, Kiserian, Busia, Kisii, Eldoret, Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Nairobi and Malindi.

Mang’eti has also sought to extend the welfare concept to church ministers and artists, promoting savings and investment programmes intended to strengthen their financial resilience.

His philosophy is reflected in a statement attributed to him by Project Restore Hope: “When we invest in a child, we invest in the future of an entire community.”

The statement mirrors his emphasis on education as a means of strengthening families and creating opportunities for future generations.

His involvement in Vincent Senior’s funeral has added another dimension to his community service profile.

His presence alongside the musician’s family, friends and colleagues at Machakos Funeral Home, and his role as chairman of the funeral committee, have placed him at the centre of efforts to coordinate the artiste’s final journey.

For Mang’eti, ministry, education, savings and welfare have become interconnected aspects of community service, reflecting his stated belief that faith should be accompanied by practical support for people and families.
