Man arrested after hitting brother on head during food quarrel in Kisii

A man aged 38 has been arrested after hitting his younger brother on the head with a blunt object during a quarrel over food in Metembe Sub-location, Marani, Kisii County.

Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday at around 8pm.

The incident involved 19 year old David Bogonko Nyariki and his 17 year old brother, who were reportedly quarrelling over food.

According to a report made at Kegogi Police Station, their elder brother, Dominic Nyariki, 38, intervened in the dispute and struck David on the head with a blunt object, causing serious injuries.

David was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH), where he was admitted and underwent a brain surgery.

Police officers who visited the hospital established that the victim had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after undergoing the surgery and was on life support.

The suspect was arrested and placed in police custody pending arraignment in court.

Police said investigations are ongoing, with the case being handled by Kegogi Police Station.
