Court denies bond to man accused of threatening Magistrate

By Our Reporter,Milimani.

A Milimani court has denied bond to a man aged 40,accused of threatening a magistrate through SMS and WhatsApp messages.

Senior Resident Magistrate Irene Thamara ruled that the prosecution had established compelling reasons to deny Francis Kamau Karanja bail pending trial.

The prosecution told the court that the alleged threats had caused the magistrate to fear for her safety, forcing her to abandon her residence and stop using her personal vehicle.

She reportedly visits her home only occasionally due to security concerns.

Karanja is accused of sending the messages on September 28, 2026, at about 7pm, allegedly accusing the magistrate of bias in a case involving Gabriel Saka and warning her to be careful, claiming he knew where she lived.

The magistrate reported the matter at Kibera Police Station, leading to Karanja’s arrest.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The case will be mentioned for pre-trial on October 14, 2026.
