A multi agency security team has arrested a 36 year old woman and recovered a large consignment of suspected narcotic drugs in Diani,Kwale county.
The discovery according to police followed an intelligence led operation.
It was conducted today and brought together officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Anti Narcotics Unit (ANU) Coast Region, the Anti Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) Diani Detachment, Diani Police Station and DCI Msambweni.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the team raided a house in the White House area of Diani belonging to Hellen Saru Mwajombo.
In the house they recovered two green gunny bags filled with rolls and loose dry plant material suspected to be cannabis.
Further searches, led by the suspect, were conducted at her residential house within the same area, yielding more exhibits including several yellowish and clear packages, a black bag and another green gunny bag, all containing loose dry plant material believed to be narcotics.
A motor vehicle was also detained in connection with the case.
The suspect was arrested and, together with the recovered exhibits, escorted to Diani Police Station for processing.
Police have indicated that investigations are ongoing, with the Anti Narcotics Unit Coast Region handling the matter.
