Police Recover Hospital Laptop Worth Sh250 000 Stolen,Sold at Sh2 500

Police in Mombasa have recovered a high end MacBook laptop worth Sh 250,000 and arrested two suspects following a swift operation after a reported theft at Mewa Hospital in Majengo.

According to a report filed at Makupa Police Station, the incident was reported by Dr. Ahmed Shayo, a medic at Mewa Hospital.

The theft occurred on Saturday around 2:00 pm within the hospital premises.

Officers from Makupa Police Station responded promptly and obtained CCTV footage from the hospital, which helped identify a known suspect.

In collaboration with the complainant, police traced the suspect to Makadara Grounds, where he led officers to Marikiti area after revealing he had already sold the stolen laptop for a paltry Sh 2,000.

The laptop was successfully recovered, and the suspect was arrested and escorted to Makupa Police Station for further investigations.

He identified himself as Yahya Abdala and named a second suspect as Abdulahi Sheikh.

Both suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court on January tomorrow (Monday) to face charges of housebreaking, stealing, and handling stolen property.

Police have lauded the quick response and effective use of CCTV footage, noting that cooperation between the public and law enforcement played a key role in the recovery and arrests.
