Kiminini law enforcement officers in TransNzoia county have arrested eleven suspected members of the notorious Mbogi Yaadu gang following a major security crackdown aimed at restoring calm in the area.
For weeks, residents of Birunda, Kiungani and surrounding villages have lived in fear as the gang allegedly terrorised communities, staging violent attacks and threatening locals with crude weapons.
The suspects were netted during a coordinated operation by police officers who moved in on the gang’s hideouts, bringing their reign of intimidation to an abrupt end.
During the raid, officers recovered an assortment of weapons, including bows, arrows, machetes and knives, believed to have been used to menace and harm residents.
Authorities say the operation is part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within Kiminini and reassure the public of their safety.
The eleven suspects are currently in police custody and are being processed ahead of their arraignment at the Kitale Law Courts as investigations continue.
