Eleven Mbogi Yaadu Gang Suspects Overpower Police,Escape from Police Station,Kiminini

Eleven suspected members of the notorious Mbogi Yaadu criminal gang dramatically escaped from lawful custody at Kiungani Police Station in Kiminini,TransNzoia county yesterday evening after overpowering officers during fingerprint processing exercise.

According to police records, the suspects who had been arrested from Birunda and Kiungani areas and booked earlier forced their way out of custody at about 6:46 pm.

The escape occurred as officers were taking fingerprints, when the suspects jointly pushed the holding area door and charged at the officers on duty.

Several officers sustained injuries in the ensuing struggle.

A sergeant suffered abdominal injuries after falling, while other officers were injured on the knee, eye, and finger.

In an attempt to prevent the escape and effect re arrest, one officer discharged two rounds from his issued AK-47 rifle.

No fatalities were reported.

The escaped suspects were identified as Sammy Wamalwa Siyu, Kelvin Juma, Stephen Ngala, David Wekesa, Lewis Muliro, Emmanuel Wasike, Peter Wasike, Eugene Wamalwa, Luka Omindi, Emmanuel Juma, and Evans Nyongesa.

All fled the station and remained at large by the time of filing this report.

Police have launched an intensive manhunt across Kiminini Sub-County and surrounding areas.
