Security officers have arrested a suspected terror operative near the office of the Garissa County Governor.
The suspect was nabbed today morning after he was found in possession of multiple weapons and suspicious items.
According to a police report filed at Garissa Police Station and seen by Daily News Kenya-International, the suspect was apprehended at around 7:30 a.m. by officers manning the County Governor’s office.
The suspect, identified as Aden Dakane Falir,from Somali community was arrested while inquiring about the whereabouts of the Garissa County Governor.
Police said he failed to clearly explain his intentions, raising suspicion among the officers on duty.
A thorough search was conducted, during which the suspect was found in possession of a sword, panga, knife, solar panel, torch, hacksaw, Samsung mobile phone, assorted pieces of wire, and two national identity cards bearing different names one in his own name and another belonging to Maslah Bashir Nunow.
Following the arrest, the suspect was escorted to Garissa Police Station, where he was placed in custody pending further interrogation.
The case has been classified as Pending Under Investigation and has been handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), Garissa Detachment, for further handling.
Police have not ruled out possible links to terrorism related activities as investigations continue.
