A high-level peace and security meeting has been held in Lolgorian town, Transmara South on Tuesday.
The meeting brought together government officials, local leaders, and community representatives to address the prevailing security concerns in the area.
The meeting according to participants, marks a significant moment as it was the first leaders’ consultative meeting of its kind in the sub-county aimed at restoring calm and strengthening collaboration between security agencies and the community.
During the forum, leaders raised concerns over recent incidents that have threatened peace and coexistence among residents.
The local police Commander emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing timely information and adhering to the law.
As part of immediate measures to stabilize the situation, authorities imposed a dusk to dawn curfew, effective immediately.
The curfew is intended to curb criminal activities, allow security operations to proceed effectively, and create space for dialogue and reconciliation efforts.
Local leaders welcomed the move, calling for unity, restraint, and collective responsibility in maintaining peace.
They also appealed to residents to comply fully with the curfew and other security directives as the government works toward long term solutions.
The meeting concluded with a strong call for sustained engagement between security agencies, leaders, and the community to ensure lasting peace and stability in Transmara South.
