A routine home renovation in Nairobi’s Runda estate took a dramatic turn after a rifle was discovered hidden inside a servant quarters wardrobe.
According to a police report filed at Runda Police Station the firearm was recovered on Tuesday night at around 8:10pm in the Flame Tree Drive, Zuma Residence area of Runda.
The discovery was reported by Alice Githinji, a resident of the estate, after she received information from a worker renovating her servant quarters.
The worker, Nicholas Muoki Nzioka, told police that while dismantling a wardrobe in one of the rooms, he stumbled upon a rifle wrapped in a white polythene bag.
Police officers promptly responded to the scene and confirmed the presence of the firearm.
The weapon was identified as a Carbine rifle and was found in a room previously rented by a man identified as Bradon Fernandes, a Kenyan national who reportedly vacated the premises in August 2025 after living there for approximately eight years.
Police documented the scene before taking the rifle into custody as an exhibit.
It has been forwarded for ballistic analysis to establish its origin, ownership, and whether it has been used in any criminal activity.
