Police and forensic experts today carried out an exhumation exercise at Gisebakwa Village in Borabu,Kisii county following a case of mistaken identity that led to the wrong burial late last year.
The operation, conducted within Manga Police Station jurisdiction, involved officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homicide Section led by Director of Homicide Martin Nyuguto alongside government pathologist Dr. Mitia.
Also present weee officials from Kenyatta National Hospital, and public health officers.
The body exhumed was that of Jeremiah Temba, a 43 year-old Tanzanian Maasai man who had been buried on December 31, 2025, after being wrongly identified.
The exercise began at 8:00 a.m. and concluded at 4:00 p.m. under tight security.
Following the exhumation, the remains were transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital Farewell Home for further forensic analysis.
Meanwhile, arrangements are underway for the burial of Daniel Onyoni Obara, a 53 year old Kisii man, whose body was moved from Kenyatta National Hospital Farewell Home to Nyansiongo Mortuary after the identity mix-up was resolved.
The exercise was conducted without incident, with security provided by the Sub County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) Borabu and officers from Borabu Sub-County.
