[8:54 AM, 1/27/2026] kweyu: Police officers in Busia county have arrested an 18 year old suspect who had been on the run in connection with a series of defilement cases involving minors.
According to a follow up report from Busia Police Station, the suspect, identified as George Otieno, was apprehended yesterday after being traced to a bushy river area within Bukesa.
He was arrested and escorted to Busia Police Station, where he is currently being held pending identification procedures and arraignment in court.
The arrest follows investigations and earlier situation reports recorded on January 18, 19 and 22 this year.
Police indicated that all complainants in the cases are minors aged between five and ten years.
Busia police confirmed that the suspect had previously evaded arrest but was tracked down through sustained investigative efforts.

[9:03 AM, 1/27/2026] kweyu: Police Foil Dormitory Arson Plot at Ribe Boys National School.
Police in Rabai,Kilifi county have thwarted an attempted arson plot at Ribe Boys National School following timely intelligence received late Sunday night.
According to a report filed at Kambe–Ribe Police Station early Monday,the incident occurred on January 25, 2026, at around 11:00pm.
The school principal, Julius Changawa, reported that a security guard had received intelligence indicating that some students were planning to burn down a school dormitory during evening preps hours, between 7:00pm and 9:00pm.
Acting on the information, the principal and the school’s security team moved swiftly to one of the dormitories, where they found four form three students suspected to be involved in the plan.
A search conducted within the dormitory led to the recovery of a 20 litre jerrican hidden in one of the cubicles, containing approximately seven litres of petrol.
One of the students was also found in possession of a lighter, concealed in his pocket.
Police officers from Kambe–Ribe Police Station, accompanied by the OCPD Rabai, visited the scene and documented the incident.
Several students were arrested and escorted to the police station for further processing, while the jerrican containing petrol was retained as an exhibit.
Authorities noted that the motive behind the attempted arson remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
