A midnight fire broke out at a residential house construction site in Muiri West Gardens Estate, within the Galleria area of Lang’ata Nairobi County, but no injuries were reported.
According to a police incident report from Karen Plains Police Station, the fire was reported shortly after midnight today through the Nairobi Region Control Room.
The report was made by Ibrahim Abdikarim, the site manager of Minry International Construction Limited, who alerted authorities that flames had erupted at the construction site at around 12:00 a.m.
Police officers from Karen Plains Police Station, accompanied by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Karen, rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, they established that a site store and kitchen were engulfed in flames.
A fire engine from the Nairobi County Fire Brigade, which had been dispatched by the control room, arrived shortly thereafter and successfully extinguished the blaze.
No casualties were recorded.
However, assorted construction materials of unknown value were destroyed by the fire.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire is suspected to have been caused by an unextinguished fire originating from the site kitchen.
A fire inquiry file, Number 1 of 2026, has been opened, and the matter is under investigation by officers from DCI Karen.
Police say further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
