By Our Correspondent,Mandera.

A tense confrontation involving a secondary school student, four teachers and an armed National Police Reservist (NPR) officer has triggered a police investigation in Mandera.

According to a report filed at Mandera Police Station, a 17 year old student of Kamor Mixed Secondary School reported that he was assaulted by his class teacher inside the school staffroom.

The incident, which allegedly occurred during the day, was reported by the juvenile in the company of his sister.

following the alleged assault.

Four other teachers from the same school later recorded a counter report at the station.

The teachers alleged that at around 4:20pm, while at the school’s main gate, they were confronted by an armed police reservist officer accompanied by two girls.

The officer allegedly threatened them over the earlier incident involving the student.

The matter escalated further in the evening when the teachers returned to the station at around 8:54pm, reporting that neighbours had warned them not to return to their homes due to alleged stone throwing incidents by unknown individuals at their residences.

Police have since disarmed the NPR officer identified who is also the father of the juvenile, to allow for impartial investigations.

An inquiry file has been opened, with the case pending under investigations and handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mandera.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault, threats and subsequent reports, as tensions remain high within the school community.
