Police in Tiriki,Vihiga County have arrested two suspects in connection with a brutal burglary at Abundance Church School that led to the death of a man.
The arrest followed a coordinated operation involving officers and community members.
According to a follow.up report filed at Cheptulu Police Station, the arrests stem from an earlier incident where unknown assailants broke into Abundance Church School in the dead of night of Friday.
During the break-in, the deceased, identified as Derick Oyando Njuguna, was attacked and struck on the head with blunt objects.
He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu.
In the wee hours of today,police officers from Cheptulu and Serem Police Stations in Tiriki East and Hamisi subcounties, working closely with Nyumba Kumi members and acting on intelligence from the public, mounted an operation that led to the arrest of two suspects.
The suspects were identified as Brighton Kisia, a 23-year old and Patson Azizi Abdi, a 33-year-old.
During searches conducted at their residences, officers recovered items believed to be linked to the crime, including one jungle (mitumba) shirt and two caps.
Police have confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Residents have been urged to continue cooperating with security agencies by sharing information to aid ongoing investigations and enhance community safety.
