Country moving in the wrong direction in leadership and governance,Maraga says

United Green Movement (UGM) party presidential flag bearer David Maraga took his voter registration campaign to Kwale county on the second day of his tour in the coast region ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking at Nyalani village, Vigurungari location, Busa sub location within Puma ward in Kinango constituency in Kwale county he said his first prorirty will be to end the massive corruption under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He said he will end the looting of the public coffers by civil servants.

“The country is wealthy and not poor but poor governance and corruption will sink the nation,” he added.

The former Chief Justice said corruption in the country has led to the current crisis in the education sector.

On his part, UGM party leader Agustino Neto expressed his disappointment at the rate of unemployment among the youths saying it is very high.

He said their party manifesto is aimed at creating a conducive environment for the creation of employment opportunities within the country.

“On our way to the campaign exercise we noticed the constituency is affected by famine,” he said.

The party county coordinator Zainab Chitsangi pleaded with county electorate to give her the opportunity to seal the development gaps after the 2022 general election.

She told the electorate that time has come for them to protect the land in the county against land grabbers.

“Time has come for you to protect the existing national resources in the county,” she pointed out.
