Four sisters robbed at gunpoint after leaving Ugunja Bank

Four sisters narrowly escaped injury after being violently robbed by armed men who trailed them from a bank in Ugunja,Siaya County, on Saturday.

According to a police report filed at Ugunja Police Station, the incident occurred on February 7, 2026, at around 1:40 p.m. shortly after the women left KCB Bank, Ugunja Branch, heading home to Alego Manyana.

The victims Dorothy Nyendo, Angela Ahere, Lindah Kibisu, and Sally Muhombe were traveling in a white Toyota Axio when they noticed a grey Toyota Fielder following them.

After passing Rangala Centre, the suspects blocked their vehicle near Fuluthi Bridge along a feeder road in Manyala Village, about 10 kilometres from Ugunja town.

Police say four suspects all men emerged from the trailing vehicle, smashed the victims’ windscreen, and ordered them out before stealing several valuables.

Among the items stolen were multiple smartphones, cash in Kenyan shillings, Ugandan shillings, and an unspecified amount of US dollars.

One of the sisters, who was driving, was not robbed.

No injuries were reported, and the suspects fled the scene using their vehicle.

Police officers visited the scene as they launched investigations and began efforts to track down the suspects.

Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant, especially when leaving banking halls, and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
