Night Crackdown in Athi River: 23 Arrested as Police Move Against Rogue Bars

Police in Athi River South,Machakos County have arrested 23 people following a late night operation targeting bars operating in violation of government regulations.

According to a report filed at Athi River Police Station today morning,officers conducted the operation within the Kwa Mangeli area.

The crackdown focused on establishments operating beyond permitted hours and individuals found drunk and disorderly.
Among those arrested was Felister Joan (26), accused of operating Simat Bar past the legally allowed hours.

The rest of the suspects comprised both men and women between 21 and 64 years, who were found within the premises during the operation.

Police stated that all the suspects will be arraigned at the Mavoko Law Courts on Monday to face charges related to operating a bar past stipulated hours and being drunk and disorderly.

Authorities have emphasized that the operation is ongoing as part of wider efforts to enforce compliance with licensing laws, curb disorder, and enhance public safety within Athi River and its environs.
