We salute President Ruto for bold step to have the sports facility back, Mombasa branch FKF chairman Alamin says

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Mombasa Branch Chairman Ahmed Alamin Abdalla alias Alamin Abdallah led the sports administration within the county to give President William Ruto a thumbs up for the bold step he has taken to ensure Mombasa stadium gets a new facelift.

The government has set aside Sh 1 billion for the completion of the stalled 15,000-seater sports facility.

The FKF Mombasa branch chairman said the stalled facility has nurtured veteran sports men and women in the coast region.

“In the last 15 years the facility has had a great impact in the sports circles,” he pointed out.

Alamin said the head of state has taken a bold step to restore the stalled sports facility back to use.

He was addressing the media at the stalled Mombasa Stadium in Mombasa county.

His move comes hardly four days after the government announced the resumption of construction of the stalled 15,000-seater Mombasa Stadium to give it a new facelift by end of this year.

The FKF Mombasa Branch Chairman said the head of state’s announcement has made the sports fraternity joyous.

Alamin disclosed the stalled 15,000-seater facility is the first to be constructed in the region.

Meanwhile, President William Ruto said that hev will ensure the facility will have a new facelift before end of this year.

He also announced the government has taken over until the completion of work on the county sports facility by end of this year.

“The move is to ensure work on the sports facility is complete by end of this year,” he said.

Ruto said the government has moved in to end the perennial problems facing the stalled Mombasa stadium.

He spoke during the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project disbursement forum held at Mombasa international show ground in Mombasa county.

The head of state added that his administration has got the solution to resolve the perennial problems facing the stalled facility.

President Ruto said the national government has entered into a mutual understanding with the county government to clear the way forward on the stalled sports facility.

He said upon the completion of the facility he will officially hand it over to the county government for manning and the running the facility’s affairs.

“I am optimistic the Mombasa stadium will have a new facelift as this year’s Christmas gift to county residents,” he pointed out.
