By Our Reporter,Nairobi.

Detectives in Embakasi have arrested a police officer who had been on the run for over a year and was wanted in connection with a gang rape case reported in 2024.

According to a police report, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Embakasi arrested the Administration Police Constable attached to the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) Headquarters, after he presented himself at the Nairobi Region IPOA offices today.

The arrest followed intelligence received at about 1:00pm from the Nairobi Regional Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), indicating that the officer previously declared a deserter was in their custody.

He had been declared a deserter through a letter from the RDU Commandant dated November 19, 2024.

The officer was wanted by DCI Embakasi in connection with an alleged gang rape incident reported at Embakasi Police Station.

DCI officers promptly proceeded to the IPOA offices, formally arrested the suspect, and escorted him to Embakasi Police Station, where he is currently being held pending arraignment.
