Abandoned Newborn Baby Rescued Near DCC Offices in Kikuyu.By Our Reporter,Kikuyu.

Police officers from Kikuyu Police Station on Friday night rescued an abandoned newborn baby boy after an alert from a concerned member of the public in Kikuyu,Kiambu County.

According to police, the incident was reported by Faith Maingi, who said she was walking home from work when she heard a baby crying by the roadside near the Deputy County Commissioner’s (DCC) offices’ main gate.

She raised alarm, prompting officers to respond to the scene.

Upon arrival, the officers found a two day old baby boy wrapped in a black sweater and concealed inside a yellow carrier bag.

The umbilical cord had already been severed.

Inside the bag, police recovered a handwritten note believed to have been left by the mother, expressing regret and explaining that she abandoned the baby due to financial difficulties.

The note indicated the child was born on February 11.

Police officers immediately clothed the infant and escorted him to Wangige Level 4 Hospital for specialized medical care and observation.

The baby was admitted in stable condition.

Police have since opened an inquiry under Pending Under Investigation (PUI) as efforts begin to trace the child’s mother or relatives and to ensure the infant’s protection in line with child welfare laws.
