Man Lynched in Gilgil After Alleged Donkey Theft,Slaughter

Police in Nakuru County have launched investigations into a case of mob injustice after a man was lynched by villagers in Gilgil for allegedly stealing donkeys and slaughtering them

According to police at Gilgil Police Station the incident was reported by the Assistant Chief of Kasambara Sub-Location, Felishia Mugi yesterday.

She informed officers that an unidentified man had been subjected to mob justice at Thugunoi Village.

Police officers from Gilgil Police Station, the DCI, and Mbaruk Police Post responded to the scene and established that the deceased was one Timothy Waweru.

Preliminary findings indicate that Waweru was attacked by villagers after allegedly being found with two donkeys that had been stolen and slaughtered.

The donkeys were reported to be the property of a local resident, Joseph Wanjine.

During the incident, the deceased’s motorcycle, registration number KMDB 654P, was also destroyed.

Scenes of Crime officers from Gilgil processed and documented the scene before the body was removed.

His body was later transferred to Gilgil Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending post-mortem examination.
