Boda Boda Mob Torches Suspected Robber’s Home in Emuhaya, Weapons Recovered

Police in Emuhaya Sub-County are investigating an arson incident in which a group of boda boda riders allegedly set ablaze a house belonging to a man suspected to be linked to a string of robberies in parts of Vihiga and Kakamega counties.

According to a police report filed at Emusire Police Station, the incident occurred on Wednesday,February 18, 2026, at around 4:30 p.m. in Ebusaamba Village, Emuhondo Sub-Location.

The report was made by the area Assistant Chief, Noman Nemali.

According to him the group is said to have originated from Chavakali, Kilingili, Mbale, and Viyalo.

They reportedly stormed the homestead of Phister Anungo while armed with crude weapons.

On arrival they proceeded to torch a house belonging to her son, Allan Opeywa, who was not at home at the time.

Police say the suspect is allegedly connected to a series of robbery and housebreaking incidents reported in the Chavakali and Kilingili areas.

During the incident, the group reportedly recovered a black toy pistol, a knife, and a national identity card believed to belong to the suspect.

Officers from Emakakha Police Post later visited the scene and secured the recovered items as investigations continue.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
