Unrest at Kibabii Boys

Police on Monday night restored order at Kibabii Boys National School,Bungoma county following a student demonstration triggered by the transfer of the school’s Chief Principal Nicodemus Ogeto.

A report filed at Mayanja Vitunguu Police Station a few minutes to midnight indicated that the unrest occurred within Kibabii Location, Tuuti Sub-location, approximately one kilometre from Kibabii Police Patrol Base.

Students demanded that the outgoing principal remain at the school and address them.

The principal was not present at the time.
During the incident, students blocked the Bungoma–Mayanja–Chwele Road, disrupting traffic before police officers intervened and escorted them back into the school compound.

In the process, several facilities sustained damage, including window panes at the stores, canteen, kitchen, classrooms, and dormitory.

The value of the destruction is yet to be established.

No injuries were reported among students, police officers, or members of the public.
