Police in Narok County have confirmed the recovery of a motor vehicle involved in drowning incident in Transmara as the search for the missing occupants enters a critical phase.
According to a follow-up report filed at Kirindon Police Station in the evening today, the vehicle, a Land Cruiser tour van registration number KBA 276E, was successfully retrieved on Wednesday after an intensive day long operation.
The vehicle was being driven by Edwin Mpario, aged 37, who was in the company of one passenger,Moses Kipempeu, aged 32, at the time of the incident.
The recovery operation was carried out by divers from the county rescue team, with assistance from members of the public.
The exercise began at 6.00am and ended at 5.00pm which culminated in the successful retrieval of the wreckage from the water.
However, police confirmed that the bodies of the two occupants had not yet been recovered by the time of filing the report.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities indicating that further updates will be issued as progress is made.
The incident has drawn attention to the dangers associated with water crossings in the area, as local authorities continue to urge caution while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning continue.
