Passenger robbed by “passengers” turned robbers in Kimende

A robbery with violence incident was reported on Tuesday night in Kimende,Lari Kiambu County, after a passenger was attacked by suspected criminals posing as fellow travelers.

According to a report made at Kijabe Police Station and Kimende Police Post at about 9.00pm, the complainant, Robert Aboko Kibiro of Satellite area in Nairobi, said the incident occurred at around 7.30pm while he was travelling to Nairobi.

Kibiro reported that he boarded a private black Toyota Fielder whose registration details he could not recall.

The vehicle already had three other occupants, a woman and two men.

Their journey proceeded normally until they reached the Rubis flyover along the Nairobi route, where the passengers suddenly turned hostile and revealed they were robbers.

The victim told police that the assailants brandished crude weapons and restrained him before robbing him of his mobile phone valued at Sh 1,500.

He was also coerced into withdrawing Sh 2,000 from his bank account and forced to disclose his M-Pesa PIN, enabling the attackers to access his mobile money.

After the ordeal, the robbers drove him to Kimende area, where he was abandoned about one kilometre south of the police post.

He managed to make his way to Kimende Police Post and reported the incident.

Police officers visited the scene and took the necessary action.

No arrests or recoveries had been made by the time of filing the report.
