Police in Busia County have launched investigations into a gang rape incident reported in Madele Village within Busia Sub-county.
Police at Busia Police Station say that the incident was reported yesterday evening by the victim a 24 year old resident of Madele Village.
She told police that the attack occurred on Wednesday at around 10:00 p.m. while she was relaxing on the veranda of the family home.
She was reportedly approached by three unknown men who asked about the whereabouts of her brother.
When she asked them which of her brothers they were referring to, one of the men allegedly grabbed her by the neck, covered her mouth with a piece of cloth, and forcibly carried her away from the compound.
Police say the suspects then took turns sexually assaulting her while threatening to kill her.
During the ordeal, the victim managed to remove the cloth covering her mouth and screamed for help.
The attackers then snatched her mobile phone, a Samsung Galaxy A05 valued at approximately Sh7,000, before fleeing the scene.
After the incident,the victim returned home and informed her grandmother about what had happened.
The matter was later reported to the area Assistant Chief, who advised them to report the case to the police.
She subsequently reported the incident at Busia Police Station and was escorted to Busia County and Referral Hospital where she received treatment before being discharged.
Police said the victim was unable to identify the suspects.
The case remains under investigation by officers from the Busia Sub-County Police.
