Police Vehicle Escapes Flood Waters in Balambala During Patrol

A police vehicle attached to the Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC) in Balambala narrowly escaped being swept away by flash floods after it got stuck in mud during a routine patrol in Jarajara area, Garissa County yesterday.

According to a police report made at Jarajara Police Station,the incident occurred at about 5:30pm when the SCPC Balambala vehicle a Toyota Land Cruiser, was conducting a routine patrol within the Jarajara–Mudhey area.

Upon reaching the Lahore Lagha river bed, the vehicle reportedly got stuck in mud.

Moments later, the usually dry river bed was suddenly filled with fast flowing water following flash floods, placing the officers and the vehicle in danger.

The Sub-County Police Commander quickly mobilised a rescue team from the Jarajara National Youth Service (NYS) camp.

The team responded promptly and managed to retrieve the vehicle from the raging waters at around 11:00pm.

The Land Cruiser was later towed to the Jarajara NYS camp where it is currently parked awaiting mechanical inspection.

Police confirmed that the vehicle did not sustain any physical damage during the incident.

No injuries were reported among the officers involved.
