A woman aged 75 years old was attacked and raped by an unknown intruder inside her home in Gaikundo area.
The attacker also robbed her Sh300 alongside other belongings.
According to a police report filed at Mukurwe-ini Police Station yesterday, the victim a resident of Mbari Ya Ndiga village in Gaikundo Sub-location, reported that the incident occurred at about 1:00 a.m. while she was asleep in her bedroom.
The elderly woman told police she was suddenly awakened by a man who had placed his hand on her neck, strangling her while threatening her with a knife.
The attacker, whose face was covered, warned her that he would kill her if she screamed.
Police said the suspect forcefully removed the victim’s underwear and sexually assaulted her before demanding money.
Out of fear, the woman handed him Sh300 that she had in the house.
The suspect also stole several household items including a radio, a woofer, a black torch, and a charger before ordering the victim to open the door for him. He then fled the scene.
After the ordeal, the victim raised alarm prompting neighbours to respond.
She sustained a slight cut on her mouth, which she told police was inflicted by the attacker during the assault.
The victim was later escorted to Mukurwe-ini Sub-County Hospital where she received treatment and was discharged.
Police officers who visited the scene established that the suspect had gained entry into the victim’s bedroom by digging a hole through the outer side of her timber house.
The victim told investigators that she was unable to identify the attacker.
The case has been recorded as “person unknown involved (PUI)” and detectives from Mukurwe-ini Police Station have launched investigations to trace the suspect.
