A four year old boy has died in Bondo, Siaya County in a case of suspected negligence in the dispensing or administration of drugs at a local chemist.

According to a report recorded at Bondo Police Station yesterday, the incident was reported by Stephen Otieno Ochido.

He stated that on March 8, 2026 at about 4:00pm, he rushed his sick child Milles Otieno to Jambo Chemist within Bondo Township.

The child was attended to by a female nurse at the facility, who reportedly administered two injections.

However, the following day on March 9, 2026, the child’s condition deteriorated, prompting the father to rush him to Bondo Sub-County Hospital for further treatment.

While waiting to be attended to at the hospital, the nurse from Jambo Chemist reportedly contacted the child’s mother and instructed them to return to the chemist.

A doctor from Bondo Sub-County Hospital later went to the chemist and referred the child back to the hospital for further medical care.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the minor was admitted for treatment but unfortunately died while receiving care at the facility.

The body is being preserved at Bondo morgue as it awaits a post-mortem examination.

The case has been handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Bondo, who have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
