Police in Busia County have launched a manhunt for two armed robbers who shot and critically injured an M-Pesa attendant on Monday at Mundika shop centre.
The victim, identified as Annet Barasa, 27, was working at Mareba Super M-Pesa shop when the attackers struck.
The assailants, who were armed with an AK-47 rifle and riding a white TVS motorcycle with no registration number, reportedly accosted the attendant before shooting her in the lower abdomen.
They then made off with Sh 400,000 in cash.
Police officers from Busia police station led by the OCS) alongside DCI officers responded swiftly to the scene.
The injured attendant was rushed to Bulanda Nursing Hospital, where she remains admitted in critical condition.
Officers recovered seven spent cartridges of ammunition, a bullet core, and a bullet fragment, all preserved as exhibits.
Security agencies have since launched an operation to track down the suspects, who remain at large as nvestigations are ongoing.
