Man Rescued From Mob After Acid Attack on Two Women in Kibra

A man was on Tuesday evening rescued from an angry mob after allegedly pouring acid on two women in Kibra, Nairobi.

The incident was reported at Kibra Police Station and occurred near Quavers Lounge, where a motorcycle rider alerted authorities.

Police officers who responded to the scene found the suspect, identified as Lukas Ochieng, being assaulted by members of the public.

The mob accused him of attacking two women, Mary Claire and Watiri Thenge, who are reportedly workmates at Charge 24 and were walking home at the time of the incident.

The two victims sustained severe injuries to the face, chest, arms and lower limbs after the suspect allegedly poured a corrosive substance on them.

They were rushed to nearby medical facilities, including Equity Afia and Nairobi Women’s Hospital. Mary Claire was later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised treatment.

Police rescued the suspect from the mob and took him to Mbagathi Hospital, where he is receiving treatment under police guard.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with the case being handled by Kibra Sub-County police.
