Uthiru residents stage protest over poor roads

Residents of Gitire Village in Kabete,Kiambu county today held a peaceful demonstration to protest the deteriorating state of key access roads in the area.

The residents numbering about 100 gathered near the area chief’s office from around 10:00 a.m., carrying placards and twigs as they voiced their concerns.

They cited poor road conditions, including deep potholes and large stones, which have rendered the road linking ACK Armathea Church to Ndumbuini Shopping Centre nearly impassable.

The demonstrators also raised concerns over the deteriorated road connecting the chief’s office to Gitire Village.

Residents said the situation has significantly disrupted transport and daily activities, calling on relevant authorities to urgently address the issue.

The protest remained calm and orderly throughout, with no incidents of violence reported.
