“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.” — Romans 1:21
It’s a sobering thought: a heart doesn’t turn cold overnight. It begins when we stop noticing. Paul warns that the slide into “futile thinking” starts with a simple, quiet omission—the refusal to glorify God and give Him thanks.
When we stop acknowledging God’s hand in our lives, our perspective narrows. We begin to credit ourselves for our wins and blame the world for our losses. Without the light of gratitude, the “room” of our heart grows dim, making it easy to stumble over pride and anxiety.
But there is an invitation here! To keep your heart bright and your mind clear, start with thankfulness. Gratitude isn’t just a polite gesture; it is a spiritual anchor. Today, intentionally name three things God has provided. When you glorify Him for who He is—rather than just what He gives—you align your heart with the Truth, and the shadows of futility begin to lift.
