Pressure Mounts on Orengo to Align with Ruto as He Reappears at Siaya Development Launch

Siaya Governor James Orengo, who has recently skipped several of President William Ruto’s events in Siaya and the wider Nyanza region, today resurfaced to receive the Head of State during the launch of the Usenge–Pier Road project in the county.

Orengo, a key figure in ODM’s Linda Mwananchi movement, is now facing growing pressure from leaders allied to the broad-based government in the Luo Nyanza region to abandon the outfit and work with President Ruto and ODM leader Oburu Oginga.

Some leaders accompanying the President on his development tour of Siaya, speaking through an aide, argued that Orengo should shift his political stance and support the current administration.

“Orengo has been in the struggle and pro-democracy street battles for too long. He needs to leave it to the younger generation and serve in the government that Baba led us to join,” said one of the leaders.
