Police in Mwea have apprehended three suspected gangsters and recovered a firearm during a security operation conducted in Mwea West.
According to a police report filed at Kiamaciri Police Station yesterday night,the operation was carried out in Ngomongo area, Rukanga sub-location.
The exercise was led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Ngong Patrick Ndunda alongside the Officer Commanding Police Post (OCPP) Makutano Omwega with the aim of arresting a suspect linked to a string of violent crimes in Ngong town.
During the operation, three suspects were arrested:
Francis Kinyanjui Wanjiku, alias Kinyaa, who was found in possession of a Glock 17 pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition,Job Wachira Wanjohi and Alex Waweru Wanjiku.
Police also recovered a TVS motorcycle bearing registration number KMGD 970K, believed to have been used in criminal activities.
The suspects are linked to a series of robbery with violence incidents in Ngong town, including a reported case of March 12 where two victims were shot and robbed in the Kisii Ndogo area.
Following their arrest, the suspects were searched and placed in custody at Makutano Police Post.
They were later transferred to Ngong Police Station by officers led by OCS the OCS Ndunda.
At the time of transfer, all suspects were reported to be in normal condition.
Investigations are ongoing as police intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in the region.
