An Assistant Chief in Vihiga County is receiving treatment in hospital after he was attacked by unknown assailants on Tuesday.
Ingalaba Rodgers, the Assistant Chief for Vokoli Sub-Location, was attacked under circumstances that remain unclear.
According to a report made to police by s resident Audrey Mbayachi, Rodgers was rescued by Good Samaritans who rushed him to Vihiga County Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he received initial treatment.
He was later referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, where he remains admitted.
Police had not arrested any suspects by the time of reporting, and investigations into the attack were ongoing.
The motive for the attack had not been established.
