Camel ownership dispute leaves one dead in Wajir

Two people fighting over camel ownership in Quli Sub-location, Habaswein, Wajir County, left one person dead after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest.

Police said Ahmed Omar Ahmed, 48 reportedly stabbed Ali Omar Dahir on the right side of the chest during an argument over ownership of a camel on Friday.

The incident was reported to police by the area assistant chief after receiving a phone call from a resident.

Officers who visited the scene found the victim with fatal injuries.

His body was moved to the Wajir County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.

The suspect, who was also injured during the confrontation, was treated at Quli Dispensary before being detained at Habaswein Police Station.

A suspected weapon believed to have been used in the incident was recovered and kept at the station as an exhibit.

The case is being investigated by the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO), Habaswein.
