Police in Nairobi have launched investigations following the reported loss of a firearm belonging to a bodyguard attached to former Tigania Central MP Josphat Gichunge.
According to a police report filed at Central Police Station,Sergeant Amos Kimathi of the Security of Government Buildings (SGB) Unit reported that the incident occurred on Thursday, May 21 at around 4:00 p.m. along Mukhtar Daddah Street in Nairobi CBD.
The officer reportedly visited a barber shop and spa where he requested a complimentary massage.
During the session, he allegedly removed his Ceska pistol and placed it under a cushion pillow.
The report states that the officer later felt dizzy and decided to rest at the spa.
Upon waking up at around 11:00 p.m., he discovered that the firearm was missing.
Efforts to search for the weapon at the premises reportedly proved unsuccessful, prompting the officer to formally report the matter to police several days later.
Officers from the Central Police Station and detectives from the DCIO’S office visited the scene for investigations, but the firearm had not been recovered by the time of filing the report.
Police have circulated the alert and urged officers to remain vigilant and report any information that may lead to the recovery of the firearm and possible arrest of suspects.
