DNK International Residents of Taabet and Kiplelji areas in Chesoen Ward, Bomet Central have participated in community security forums aimed at strengthening cooperation between the public and security agencies in the fight against crime and gender based violence (GBV).
The public barazas and community engagement meetings, held on Thursday was led by area Assistant County Commissioner Rehema Kitetu, OCS of Chesoen Police Station, Nyumba Kumi (NGAO) members, advocacy groups and members of the local community.
Discussions focused on community based crime prevention strategies, the importance of sharing information with security agencies, and joint efforts to eliminate illicit brews and drug abuse.
Participants also addressed the rising cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and defilement in the area, youth involvement in crime, cyber and internet safety, and proactive policing strategies aimed at building trust between the police and the public through effective feedback mechanisms.
The forum further sensitised residents on various government policies and encouraged the use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to peacefully resolve conflicts.
Police said such engagements will continue as part of efforts to enhance community participation and strengthen the multi-agency approach to policing and public safety.
