A GSU camp at Fafi Centre in Garissa County came under attack on Thursday evening by suspected Al-Shabaab militants, leaving one police officer injured.
The attack occurred at about 7.00 pm at the GSU camp.
The attackers are reported to have used heavy artillery during the incident.
GSU officers managed to repulse the attackers, with all personnel later accounted for.
Police Constable Timothy Kiplangat sustained injuries to the head, right thigh and right heel from suspected RPG pellets.
He was given first aid at the camp and was reported to be in stable condition.
Police said the camp remains properly fortified against any further attack, while the area was generally calm following the incident.
The matter is being handled by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) based in Dadaab, with investigations continuing.
