Kenya Deepens China Ties as New Consulate Opens in Southern China

Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with China following the official inauguration of its Consulate in Southern China.

Speaking after hosting an official luncheon for members of the business and diplomatic communities as well as the Kenyan diaspora,Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei said representatives from the Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office and the Guangzhou Municipal Government echoed Kenya’s commitment to enhancing the Kenya–China Strategic Partnership.

He noted that both sides pledged to deepen cooperation in economic and technical development while promoting stronger people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of the two nations.

The Principal Secretary also revealed that, on behalf of the National Museums of Kenya, he received a ceramic carving of a White Rhino in recognition of Kenya’s outstanding wildlife conservation efforts.

He said the artwork will be officially delivered to Nairobi later this year by officials from Guangdong Province and the Guangzhou Municipal Government.

The opening of the new Kenyan Consulate in Southern China is expected to enhance trade, investment, tourism and consular services while strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic presence in one of China’s key economic regions.
