Migori Assembly leaders booed in Busia Over Ruto’s second term bid

By Our Correspondent,Igula.

A section of delegation of mourners led by Migori County Assembly Speaker Christopher Odhiambo was booed and forced to cut short their speeches after expressing support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid during the burial of senior Migori assembly staff member Aggrey Egesa Sidwaka in Igula Village, Marachi Central, Butula, Busia County on Tuesday.

The leaders faced resistance from mourners, some of whom shouted their support for The Equitable Party (TEP) leader Edwin Sifuna’s presidential ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Tensions continued to rise until the area Member of County Assembly, Shadrack Masinde, intervened to calm the gathering.

Migori Governor Ochillo Ayacko through Odhiambo eulogised Sidwaka as a hardworking public servant and urged greater attention to mental health.

The burial ceremony was presided over by the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Bishop of Nambale Diocese, Isaiah Obuya and attended also by Marachi West MCA Simon Maina and the King of Bafofoyo clan of Marach subtribe in Luyia Goddy Mareba.

Sidwaka died last week in a tragic road accident in Bumala Town, Busia County.

He is survived by his widow, Judith Taaka Ouma, and their three children.
